Think big Art in Architecture
Let's find the art in architecture. How is it different from other forms of art or is it? We may think of architecture as a ‘building’ but it’s so much more. Like more familiar forms of art it has been influenced by cultures (think Romans, Native Americans) and times (think the Renaissance, the railroad era). Do we dare to ask if the art of New Mexico architecture is different and identifiable? So many questions to ask and answers to find. Who are the artists in architecture? Does one person create this art or does it take many? It takes architects, urban planners, landscapers, wood carvers, and painters. We plan to meet some of them to help us with answers and ideas.Together we can learn to recognize this form of art and have fun creating our own. There are so many building blocks to consider: boxes, leggos, wood, fabric, metal, even some dirt. Along the way we’ll need to draw, paint, glue, hammer and maybe even sew.
